§ 3-16. Same—Occurrence or suspicion of case.

  • Whenever a case or suspected case of rabies has occurred in the city, the animal control officer shall have the power, and it shall be such officer's duty, to prevent the spread of the disease by ordering either that all animals in the city shall be locked up, restrained by a leash or muzzled, or ordering all owners or keepers of animals to take such prophylactic measures as the animal control officer may deem necessary. The animal control officer shall have the power to determine the duration of the period in which such order shall remain effective.
