§ 2-14. Regular election date and notice.

  • (a)

    Regular elections for the offices of mayor and members of council shall be held in even-numbered years on the second Tuesday in September. A runoff election, if necessary, shall be held two (2) weeks following the election.

    (b)

    In the event of a tie vote for any office, a runoff election shall be held two (2) weeks following the election pursuant to S.C. Code Section 5-15-125, as amended.

    (c)

    Special elections to fill vacancies shall be held pursuant to S.C. Code Section 7-13-190, as amended.

    (d)

    Public notice of a regular or special election shall be given at least sixty (60) days prior to the election, which shall include the location of polling places set by resolution of council. Polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
